Aloysius "Al" J. Kreutzjans, 79, of Jennings County, passed away at 3:20 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at Jennings Healthcare Center in North Vernon.
Born July 20, 1933 in Jennings County, Al was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret Gasper Kreutzjans. He served his country during the Korean War as part of the United States Army. Later, he married Marie Stammen on August 18, 1979. Mr. Kreutzjans had been a lifelong educator, serving Jennings County for 30 years as a teacher at the former Vernon School and Brush Creek Elementary.
Al had been a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also involved with the Hoosier Historic Hills and was pivotal in the start-up of the North Vernon Farmer's Market. His interest included traveling, trees, and reading.
Mr. Kreutzjans is survived by his wife, Marie of North Vernon, three daughters, Margaret Kreutzjans, Monica Phillips and Julie Peters all of Indianapolis, two sons, Matthew Nordenbrock of Greenfield and Nathaniel Nordenbrock of Evansville, eight grandchildren, Ben and Sarah Phillips, Johnathan, Elizabeth, and Jacob Peters, and Allison, Bailey, and Eliza Nordenbrock, two brothers, George and Ed Kreutzjans, and one sister, Marcella Magateaux.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Margaret, three brothers, Richard, Joseph, and Sylvester Kreutzjans, and two sisters, Mildred Kreutzjans and Anna Walters.
Funeral Information
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anne's Catholic Church on Friday, April, 26, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Jonathan Meyer officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service in North Vernon with a Rosary Service beginning at 3:45. Burial will be at St. Anne's Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to St. Mary's Project Share or Our Hospice of Jennings County.
