Mrs. Alice A. Briscoe

February 02, 1925 - August 12, 2014

Alice Ann Briscoe, 89, of Scipio, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at Willow Crossing Health and Rehabilitation Center in Columbus.

Born February 2, 1925, in Indianapolis, Alice was the daughter of the late Leslie and Iva Nichols Spillman. She married Loren Dale Briscoe on November 21, 1943, and he preceded her in death on September 23, 1976.

Mrs. Briscoe had previously been employed in hotel housekeeping. She worked in the Foster Grandparent Program for 15 years, working with special needs children. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in North Vernon. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with family.

Survivors include four daughters, Sheila (Jimmie) Pitzer of Hayden, Nancy (Clay) Burton of Brewersville, Paula (Dennis) Niemeier of Winchester, VA, and Loretta Briscoe of Scipio; a brother, Charles (Sandra) Spillman of Leesburg, IN; ten grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; grandson, Charles Yeager; brother, Harold Spillman; and two sisters, Dorothy Fross and Betty Steen.

Funeral Information

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 15, 2014, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Dennis Boggs will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday. Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, Kingdom Hall, or Foster Grandparent Program.
