Agnes Vivian Smith

March 25, 1918 - April 29, 2015

Agnes Vivian Smith, 97, of Phoenix, AZ, formerly of North Vernon, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at Golden Memories Assisted Living.

Born March 25, 1918, in Louisville, KY, Vivian was the daughter of the late Raymond and Lucy Jane (Powell) Thompson. She married Robert Smith, and he preceded her in death.

Mrs. Smith taught at St. Mary's Catholic School for several years, and then taught English in Arizona. Before teaching, she was employed at Regal Rugs. She enjoyed photography and flower gardening.

Survivors include two sons, Steven Smith of North Vernon, and Stewart Smith of Columbus; daughter, Terry Knoll of Phoenix, AZ; and grandchildren, Camron, Seth and Gavin Eddins, Meisha Smith, Ember Claypool, Patrick (Kristy) Smith, Carolyn (John) Schafer; and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and six sisters.

Arrangements were entrusted to Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service.

Funeral Information

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2015, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. Jerry Byrd will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Riley Hospital for Children.
