Ruby A. Jones

Ruby A. Jones, 93, of North Vernon, passed away at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 08, 2019, at her residence.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2019, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Services.  Rev. Jeff Eldridge will officiate.  Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. 

Born December 17, 1925, in Indianapolis, Ruby was the daughter of William and Jennie Sledge Dupree.  She married Clarence Anthony, Sr. on May 9, 1943 and he passed away on February 8, 1998.  She later married John H. Jones, Sr., who also preceded her in death in 2002.

She attended Brown County High School. Ruby had worked at Muscatatuck State Hospital for 23 years, Jay-C Food Store for 5 years and Wal-Mart for 8 ½ years.  She was a member of Butlerville Mennonite Church and a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW #2021. 

Ruby is survived by three sons, Clarence “Larry” (Carol) Anthony, Jr., Robert D. (Jenny) Anthony and George W. (Diane) Anthony, all of North Vernon; two stepsons, Pete Jones of Columbus and John H. Jones, Jr. of North Vernon; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence Anthony, Sr; husband, John H. Jones, Sr; son, Norman L. Anthony; stepson, Kurt Jones; and twelve brothers and sisters.
