Ronald R. Talkington

Ronald R. Talkington, 73, of Scipio passed away at 6:37 A.M. on Saturday, January 25, 2020, at his home.

A funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at Sawyer – Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Rev. Dale Boyd will officiate. Visitation will be from 3:00 P.M. until the time of the service.

Born July 1, 1946, in Bartholomew County, Ron was the son of Robert and Tillie Henderson Talkington. He married Ruth Dinn on September 18, 1965.

After graduating high school, Ron served in the US Army. He then worked at Cummins, Inc. for thirty years before retiring. He enjoyed camping, playing euchre, and hosting a yearly firework show on the Fourth of July. He had coached little league baseball and was a member of the American Legion in Vevay, Moose Lodge in North Vernon, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Columbus.

He is survived by his wife Ruth Talkington of fifty-four years; son, Jon Michael (Elizabeth) Talkington of Columbus; brother, Robert Talkington of Columbus; sisters, Patricia Haymaker and Karen Wheles both of Columbus; grandchildren, Alex (Daphne) Talkington, Mindy (Wyatt) Sidwell, Jacob Talkington, Sydney Talkington, Jon Michael Talkington II, and Emily Talkington; great-grandchildren, Rose Marie Sidwell, and Lukas Sidwell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sons, Mark Allan Talkington, and Matthew Wayne Talkington.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of Jennings County.
