Robert Earl West

Robert Earl West, 78, of North Vernon, passed away at 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at his residence. 

Inurnment with military honors will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 22, 2018, at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison.  Following, a Celebration of Life will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the Moose Family Center in North Vernon.  All friends and family are welcomed.   Arrangements have been entrusted to Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service.

Born March 13, 1940, in Ripley County, IN, Robert was the son of the late Charles Henry and Carrie Lee (Fryman) West, Sr.  He graduated from Mooreshill High School in 1958 and then served in the United States Navy from June of 1958 through September of 1962. 

He was currently employed with US Security Associates.  Robert was a life member of the Amvets Post #7 and a member of Moose Family Center #576.  He enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his family.

Robert is survived by four daughters, Jessica (Dave) Steinert, Donna (Larry) Albert, Tracy Foster and Christine West, all of North Vernon; two sons, Larry (Karen) West of Columbus and Bobby (Lori) West of Toms River, NJ; four sisters, Laura Cornett of Scipio, Mary Graham of North Vernon, Gale Eckstein of Lawrenceburg and Jenny Schnebelt of Aurora; 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Carrie West, Sr.; brother, Charles West, Jr.; and two sisters, Ellen Johnson and Henrietta Beasley.
