Robert George Ley, 92, of Columbus and formerly of North Vernon, passed away at 7:40 a.m. at Our Hospice of South Central IN Inpatient Facility.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in North Vernon with Rev. Jerry Byrd officiating. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Born January 11, 1927 in Jennings County, Robert was the son of the late Edward and Mary Glatt Ley. He married Mary Ebbing on September 13, 1947 and she preceded him in death on June 19, 2015. Robert had served in the Army National Guard for three years and had been employed at various farm implement businesses for 45 years. He retired in 1992.
Mr. Ley was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and thoroughly enjoyed bowling, square dancing, tractors and antique cars.
He is survived by a daughter, Susan (Bill) Tally of New Bern, NC; a grandson, Michael (Jenny) Ley of Columbus; a granddaughter, Courtney (Jacob) Ley Keating of Indianapolis and four great-grandchildren, Nolan, Hudson and Emerson Ley and Elliott Keating.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, four sons, Stephen, Michael, Robert and Alan Ley and a grandson, Gregory Alan Ley.
Memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
