Raymond L. Richart, 74, of North Vernon, passed away at 4:44 a.m. on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at IU-Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 27, 2017, at St. Ann Catholic Church. The Rev. Jerry Byrd will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service, with a rosary service at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery.
Born March 25, 1942, in Seymour, Raymond was the son of Bernard and Mary Jean (Brown) Richart. He graduated from Hayden High School in 1960, and married Jane Kipper on October 26, 1963. She survives.
Raymond served in the United States Naval Air Force from 1960 to 1964. He retired from Cummins, Inc., where he worked as a machine repairman. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Moose Lodge, AmVets, Eagles, VFW and Knights of Columbus.
In addition to his wife, Jane, Raymond is survived by two daughters, Deborah (Tim) Clark of North Vernon and Julie (Rodney Reynolds) Blount of Columbus; three sons, Daniel (Angie) Richart and Mark (Sheila) Richart, both of North Vernon, and Scott (Mandi Hauersperger) Richart of Madison; four sisters, Louise Vogel and Mary Margaret Jordan, both of North Vernon, Janet Wilnow of California, and Sarah Beth Gater of Columbus; two brothers, Louis Richart of North Vernon and Tom Richart of Shelbyville; 10 grandchildren, Maria, Timmy and Shelby Clark Kristy Day, Dugan Carter, Phoebe Campbell, Kenny Blount II, Dylan Hartley, and Makayla and Hannah Richart; and six great-grandchildren, Chloe and Avery Day, Evah and Brody Snyder, Emberly Speer, and Bentley Blount.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bernard Richart; and grandson, Noel Richart.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to St. Vincent DePaul Society or Our Hospice of Jennings County.
