Pearl will be missed by many. She was such a great coworker and friend at Arvin. I enjoyed every minute I was around her and will never forget that smile of hers. Your mom was truly a treasure to many!

All of us remaining in the George and Dorothy Ward family are extremely saddened by your loss. Our hearts go out to all, but especially to Alan, Marlene, Randall, and Vernon. The friendship between our families goes back at least three generations; the example set by Pearl helps us understand why.

As a teenager, she was a guardian angel to our oldest sister when she returned to high school after a heartbreaking bout with polio. She was consistently there for our parents as they went through the loss of our youngest sister , always bringing a hug or a favorite dish. She seemed to always know what was needed without even asking. They, and we, loved her dearly.

Her tendency to ask "how" more than "why" meant we saw her often serving her family, her friends, and the Lord with a generous spirit. When our family celebrated our mother's 80th birthday in the reception hall of the church, Pearl's practical nature meant that many details were taken care of, and we children celebrated without stress. When my sisters and I admired a quilted table runner she had made for our mother, Pearl created one for each of us. And, all were designed around each of our favorite colors.

While I didn't observe her in her workplace, she was a role model for me. When I heard her say she loved her work and wasn't too interested in retiring, I was reminded that if the work fits your God-given talents, it can bring you great joy. Her analytical nature, linear approach to a task, and persistence to follow through - what a wonderful example for anyone!!

I am sad that I can't be there with you this week, but know that you are in our thoughts and prayers, and that Pearl will be in our hearts forever.
