Lynda M. Pettigrew

Lynda M. Pettigrew, 76, of North Vernon passed away on Monday, March 11, 2019, at her home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 14, 2019, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Rev. Jerry Byrd will officiate. Interment will follow in Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM at Sawyer – Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service.

Born May 22, 1942, in Scipio, Lynda was the daughter of Carl and Mary Waples Shinolt. She married Jack Pettigrew on November 5, 1966. He preceded her in death on December 5, 2007.

She worked with her husband in the home construction business for many years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  She volunteered at the Jennings Villa children’s home, and with CASA. She also volunteered at the St. Vincent DePaul Store, and served on the Jennings County Board of Zoning and Appeals for many years. She was a member of Delta Theta Tau and enjoyed playing golf and bowling.

Lynda is survived by daughters, Carla Belding of Seymour, Lori Pettigrew, and Mary E. (Rick) Melton Pettigrew of North Vernon,  Pam (Tom) Locke of Cross Plains, and Becky (Allen) Burton of Edinburg; son, Terry Pettigrew of North Vernon; brothers, Doc Shinolt of Butlerville, and Larry Shinolt of Scipio; grandchildren, Lyndsay Kelley, and Jacob Patterson; great-grandchildren, Madison, Ean, Carlee Kelley, and Sawyer Patterson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and grandson, Damon Barrett.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Tara Treatment Center Scholarship Fund.
