Joseph F. Estell, 97, of Holton, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at Our Hospice of South-Central Indiana in Columbus.
Joseph’s wishes were to be cremated, these wishes are being handled by Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service in North Vernon. There will be no services at this time, however, burial will be at a later date in the Grandview Memorial Gardens in Madison.
Born on April 12, 1922, Joseph was the son of the late Russell and Sarah Anna (Perkins) Estell. He was married to Lorilla Mae (Siebein) Estell on June 23, 1948. Mae preceded him in death on October 2, 2018.
Joseph was a WWII Veteran, serving with the Army Air Corp 356th Fighter Group. He was a member of the Versailles Legion Post for over 70 years. He was employed by Jefferson Proving Grounds in Madison until his retirement in 1979. Joseph was a member of New Marion Baptist Church.
Joseph is survived by daughters, Rita (Sam) Stoneking of Holton, Reva (Jeff) Lamping of Jackson, TN; granddaughters, Christina Stoneking of Sunman, Samantha Stephens of Batesville; great granddaughters, Chloe Stephens, Lucy Stephens, and Claire Stoneking-Wagner.
In addition, to his parents and wife, Joseph was preceded in death by brothers, Edwin Estell, William Estell, and Ray Estell; sisters, Grace Kenens and Shirley Irene Asche.
