John K. Gee, 63, of Fishers passed away at 12:17 AM Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Allisonville Meadows.

A funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 PM Monday, April 17, 2017, at Sawyer – Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service in North Vernon. Rev. Ron Bridgewater will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until the time of the service.

Born September 17, 1953, in Seymour, John was the son of the late Joseph D. and Kathleen Bower Gee.

John attended Butlerville Elementary & Middle school graduating in 1967. He played on the school basketball team, winning the last junior high school championship of Jennings County in 1967. John graduated from Jennings County High School in 1971 and attended Purdue University School of Civil Engineering from 1971-1974 finishing the “engineering core program" in the process. He ultimately graduated from IUPUI in 1991.

John enjoyed working in the industrial chimney (smokestack) industry as a field engineer from 1976 - 1984, and, especially enjoyed working for INDOT as an eminent domain appraiser from 1986 - 1994. John retired (disabled) from Veterans Affairs (1994 - 2002) in 2002. Until his retirement he enjoyed studying, reading, and appraising real estate for his own consulting & appraising business. He received the 25th appraisal license in 1992 (Indiana Certified General Appraisal CG69100025) of which he was very proud. He also taught real estate & real estate appraising for Ivy Tech from 1996 to 2002.

John is survived by one daughter, Meryl Ann (Matt) Walls of Indianapolis; three brothers, Michael (Melodie) Gee of Columbus, OH; Jim (Guy) Gee of Cathedral City, CA; Jeff (Diana) Gee of North Vernon; and one sister, Carrie J. Gee of Madison Lake, MN; six nephews and nieces, Stephen and Alexandra Gee Schill (Andy) of Columbus, OH, Jason Gee of Brown County, Matt Gee of Grayson, KY, and Amanda Gee of North Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Campbell Township Volunteer Fire Department.
