Henry J. Eder, 75, of North Vernon, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, December 23, 2018, in North Vernon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 28, 2018, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Rev. Jerry Byrd will officiate. A Rosary service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2018, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Visitation will follow from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Born July 12, 1943, in North Vernon, Henry was the son of Henry and Josephine Kirchner Eder. He married Karen Spaulding on April 16, 1964.
He worked at Cummins, Inc. from 1967 to 1971. He then became self-employed from 1972 to 2014. After retiring, he went to work for Wal-Mart on a part-time basis in 2016. Henry was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He was known for his great sense of humor and outstanding work ethic. He was a dedicated family man and a loyal friend. Henry will be missed by all who know him.
Henry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Karen (Spaulding) Eder; two sons, Jeff (Magorita) Eder of Phoenix, AZ and Charlie (Tracy) Eder of Tampa, FL; six grandchildren, Dontaye, Ayla and Nolan Eder of Phoenix, Nathan and Whitney Eder of North Vernon and Preston Eder of Tampa; two brothers, Jerry Eder of Greenwood and David Eder of North Vernon; two sisters, Mary Jean Taylor of North Vernon and Patty Hahn of California.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Josephine Eder and his brother, Charles Eder.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the donor’s choice of charity.
