Dennis "Mouse" Bertram

Dennis W. "Mouse" Bertram, 66, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana after a short illness.

A Celebration of Life service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 22, 2017 at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service.  Rosary service will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the funeral home with visitation to follow from 4:00-8:00 p.m.  A military graveside service will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery at a later date.

Mr. Bertram was born on December 12, 1950 in Seymour, Indiana to Harold and Lorraine Bertram.  Mouse married Cynthia J. Clarkson on June 19, 1978 and she survives. 

A 1968 graduate of North Vernon High School, Dennis served in the United States Marine Corp from 1968 to 1970.  He worked 38 years for Arvins/Pilot/Martinea.  He and his wife, owned Southfork Estates Mobile Home Park and Bertram Rentals.

Mouse enjoyed watching sports, especially IU basketball when Bobby Knight was coach.  He was a gambler at heart and was an avid fan of the Hoosier Scratch Off Lottery.  His favorite TV character was J.R. Ewing.  He liked to watch old TV programs from the days of his youth.  His best pal was his dog, Girlie.   He loved being the life of the party and told great stories. Mouse loved Christmas lights and wanted everything lit up like the National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation movie.  His family and close friends were very important to him. 

Survivors include his wife; son, Matthew (Pride & Joy) of North Vernon; daughter, Leanne “June Bug” Bertram (Matthew) Powell, Monroe City; brothers, Joe and William Stewart Bertram of North Vernon; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Delmar and Eula Clarkson, Madison; half brother, Steve Bertram (Kathy), North Vernon; half sister, Linda (Larry) Patrick, North Vernon; grandsons, Cole Bertram and Jake Powell and many nieces and nephews..  He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Keegan Aaron Dale Bertram.

Memorial contributions can be made to the North Vernon Humane Society/Mercy Rescue and Riley Children's Hospital.
