Casey Urbancic Obituary

The secret, dear Alice, is to surround yourself with people who make your heart smile. It's then, only then will you be in Wonderland"

-Lewis Carroll

Dreamer, she always was a dreamer…

Casey Mary Urbancic left our company on March 8th, 2024. She was a beloved partner, sister, aunt, friend, and fur baby mom. Casey had a lust for life that couldn’t be matched. Every day there was a new book, movie, hobby, or trip to be read, watched, researched, or planned. She’s someone who had a zeal for learning which meant being in her orbit was not just exciting but a privilege.

Born in Kersey, Pennsylvania on October 6, 1972, Casey was the doting daughter of Jim and Mary Jane Urbancic, who have preceded her in passing. Casey will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by Tim Mack who has stood steadfast by her side for the last 28 years. Together they have created a treasured life with Lucy and Vader, their beloved fur babies.  She was the younger sister to Britt, who she loved deeply and who knew the best ways to drive her crazy.  She got the bonus of a sister-in-law, Heidi, whom she always thought was her real life Martha Stewart. Britt and Heidi gave her the opportunity to be the coolest, over indulging aunt to twins Sebastian and Greta, who she adored and forever called “her babies”. Casey was a treasured best friend and frequent movie date to Lauren Flores with whom Casey found solace and true friendship. She leaves behind a list too great of other family and friends that will remember her for the light, love, and laughter she brought their way.

Thanks to the influence of wonderful parents she was able to travel extensively, live abroad, and develop a spirit that attracted anyone who had the opportunity to talk to her. She could light up a room with her conversation, wit, and snark. She was a true friend who offered an ear to listen and give advice when needed and could talk for hours. She valued her frequent visits, endless coffee, and all night conversations with her family back in Pennsylvania. Simply by being Casey, she pushed those around her to be better. Her adventurous nature encouraged others to take chances or try new things - whether it was new foods, new jobs, or a jam packed trip to Europe, New York, or her much loved Disney World, she didn’t hold back and that’s something she taught everyone around her.

Her zest for life was evident and she dove head first into the things she loved, including everything to do with a book. She loved to read, going to the library, and spending too much money at the bookstore. She was an avid music lover and was always ready for the next concert, musical, broadway show or just singing in her car. Some of her favorite artists were The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Madonna, countless 80's hair bands, and Loretta Lynn. She was always ready to tie on her roller skates or break out her tap shoes. Casey also had a love for food. She was willing to try anything, finish your plate when you were done, and was always the one to over indulge and tell us about it later!

Casey has been a friend of Bill W. since March 13, 2005.

There are no services planned at this time and the family will celebrate Casey’s life privately. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation for a bench memorial at the Ferguson Dog Park where Casey enjoyed spending time watching her sweet Lucy run. For those who wish to remember Casey as we do, sleep in, stay up late, indulge in your favorite meal and be sure  to include dessert, and entertain yourself with a movie that she would have loved to watch with you.

Words cannot express the loss her loved ones will feel but to quote one of her favorites Mary Poppins: “When you need me, but do not want me, then I will stay. When you want me, but do not need me, then I have to go.” She gave us so much in such a short time and she left us knowing her impact will forever be cherished.

Good job, Mary!

Child of the pure unclouded brow

And dreaming eyes of wonder!

Though time be fleet, and I and thou

Are half a life asunder,

Thy loving smile will surely hail

The love-gift of a fairy-tale.

—Poem excerpt from “Through the Looking-Glass and what Alice found there” by Lewis Carroll
