Mrs. Louise D. BurgmeierMarch 03, 1918 - February 14, 2010 Celebrating the Life of Louise D. Burgmeier
L. Louise Decker Burgmeier of North Vernon passed away Sunday, February 14, at Jennings Healthcare Center, about 10:00 P.M. Louise was born March 3, 1918, at Seymour, Indiana to Oscar and Charlotte Blackburn Decker. She loved and excelled in school. As a high school student she represented Seymour in the state academic finals in algebra and spelling, finishing as state runner-up in spelling. As an adult she enjoyed family gatherings, puzzles, card games, and she read voluminously. Louise worked at Regal Rugs for several years and at the Muscatatuck State Hospital for 15 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, the Seton Club, and the My Boys are Always Right Club. She belonged to two card clubs. Louise married Lester Burgmeier on December 7, 1934. They had seven children, five surviving: Sherida (Tom) Moore, Larry (Bonnie) Burgmeier, Denny (Ruthann) Burgmeier, Jennings County, Randy Burgmeier of LaGrange, KY, and Tim Burgmeier of Baton Rouge, LA. She had sixteen grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She also has a surviving sister, Betty Decker Taylor, of Arkansas. Louise was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, three brothers, sons Lester Dale and Roderick Burgmeier, and her husband of 68 years, Lester. Funeral InformationFuneral services will be Thursday, February 18, 10:30 at St. Mary’s Church officiated by Father Jonathan Meyer. Visitation will be at Sawyer and Pickett Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-8 PM with the rosary at 3:30 PM.
