Lou Z. Robbins

Lou Z. Robbins, 76, of North Vernon passed away at 1:30 AM Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Silver Oaks Health Campus.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at Sawyer – Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service. Rev. Connie Barr will officiate. Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Born August 27, 1940 in Shelby County, Lou was the daughter of Rollie Wilbur and Josephine Robinson Gahimer. She married William Robbins. He preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church. She had worked in recent years as security for the walking track at Jennings County Middle School. She loved knitting, woodworking, reading, crossword puzzles, spending time with her family and friends, and was known for the hundreds of Christmas stockings she made over the years.

Mrs. Robbins is survived by sons, Robert (Mark) Covey-Robbins of Chicago, IL, and Charles (Rachel) Robbins of Columbus; one daughter, Tina (Curt Asher) Littrell of North Vernon; one brother, Gary (Jeanne) Struben of Gaston; three sisters, Jackie (Paul) Bower of North Vernon, Judy Castetter of North Vernon, and Sherri (Ted) Campbell of Columbus; grandchildren, Kristyna Dishman, Charles Robbins, Mandi (Larry) Paul, Marco, and Lilea Vite-Brodfuehrer, and Remington Robbins; ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Josephine Struben; father, Rollie Wilbur Gahimer; Step-Father, Robert Struben; two brothers, Bruce Gahimer, and Rick Struben; one sister, Sue Redicker.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the American Diabetes Foundation or New Bethel Church Scholarship Fund in memory of Bob and Josephine Struben.
