Billy R. Godsey, 73, of North Vernon, passed away at 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at Arbor Grove Village in Greensburg.

A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service.  Rev. Brian Shultz will officiate.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday.  Burial will be in Cana Cemetery.

Born August 9, 1944, in Hazard, KY, Billy was the son of the late Sherman and Laura Barnett Godsey.  He graduated from Vevay High School.  He married Barbara Sharp Nolan Godsey who preceded him in death.  He married Jennifer Lane Godsey on Oct. 13, 1992.

Billy was retired from Cummins.  He was a former member and elder at Christ Way Christian Church.  He enjoyed working for the church and traveling.

In addition to his wife, Jennifer, Billy is survived by one daughter, Melissa Monday of North Vernon; four sisters, Blanche Gillis of Bloomington, Mary Kroft of Kentucky, Betty Young of Bennington and Jessie Haney of Louisville; two step-children, Debbie (Dean) Isley of Hope and Tracy Lain of Kentucky; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara; five sisters, Reda Bush, Hazel Chilton, Jan Schwallie, Marie Shoemaker and Jean Godsey; and two brothers, Jimmy and Bobby Godsey.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Alzheimer’s Association.
